As we complete the last of our tailor-made builds, we’re pleased to share the latest iteration of our moon phase wheel with hand inlaid 24ct gold detailing.
Just as we did with our piece for Watches of Switzerland we’ve collaborated with Wiltshire-based gun engraver Sam Faraway. We cut our steel moon phase wheels in our workshop on our trusty 8mm lathe conversion, Helga, before sending them to Sam to hand carve and inlay.
To suit the lighter dial of this design, which also has blue detailing, we’ve blued the steel background of the moon phase to shades of midnight blue and royal purple to reflect the colours of our natural night sky without light pollution. The diameter of this wheel is 9.1mm – or the approximate diameter of a garden pea.
